NetXcell Uses MAX™ in Missed Call Alert Solution for Hutchison

Singapore, 12 January 2004 - Equator One Pte Ltd (E1), an emerging leader in infrastructure management solutions, announced that NetXcell Limited India has selected E1's flagship product, MAX™ Infrastructure Management Suite (MAX), as a key component of the fully integrated Missed Call Alert (MCA) and Short Message Service Center (SMSC) solution NetXcell is delivering to Hutchinson, India's biggest and foremost provider of mobile communications.

MCA enables the system to send an SMS report regarding a subscriber's missed call information. Whenever the subscriber is out of the network coverage area, information on the missed incoming call is captured and sent as an SMS message to the subscriber.

Mr. Ramakrishna, Chief Executive Officer of NetXcell, emphasized that the MCA and SMSC systems deployed at telco premises have to meet stringent availability requirements outlined in the relevant SLAs. He said that it is not acceptable for the Missed Call Alert systems running at telco sites to "miss a tick."

With MAX, NetXcell was able to devise a fail-safe approach into MCA/SMSC systems, making it possible for Technical Support to be on-call for and responsive to any outage on the system due to unforeseen network traffic bottlenecks. "Thanks to MAX, we have been able to alert Technical Support for necessary maintenance activities on MCA and SMSC well in advance," Mr Ramakrishna added.

"The proposal jointly made by EquatorOne and NetXcell to manage MCA and SMSC has pleased Hutch subscribers as they can count on receiving Missed Call Alerts always, as needed", said Mr. Ramesh Juneja, General Manager, Switch Hutchinson Hyderabad. What impressed Mr. Ramesh most about MAX was "its ease of use, and the fact that it was not intrusive. With MAX we did not have to install any agents on MCA and SMSC. This was very important for us, as we wanted to limit maintenance overhead on the servers and involvement from the vendor staff."

Wilfred Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Equator One, said "We are very pleased to be part of this new service for Hutchinson. MAX has excellent Service Level Agreement (SLA) functionality and it is gratifying to see it being used to expedite new service deployment."
